Storage in Croydon

Not a unit you rent and drive to, but the middle stage of a move: goods collected by the crew, listed as they load, held while the dates settle, and delivered when you say. Croydon produces more of these gaps than most boroughs, from both ends of its housing market.

Rental churn in the dense districts, long buying chains in the Downs districts — the same gap from two different directions.

What the arrangement is

Collected by us Loaded at your address by the same crew — handled once, not three times.
Listed A written inventory made at the property, with a copy for you.
Held as loaded Nothing repacked or consolidated while your goods are with us.
Reconciled Checked against the same list before redelivery and again with you at the far end.
Delivered where you say To an address you name when the date lands, not one fixed at collection.
Part release Where you need some of it sooner, that is arranged rather than refused.

Why Croydon produces so many gaps

Two reasons, from opposite ends of the borough. In the dense northern districts the rental market moves fast and tenancy ends rarely line up with new starts, so there is a gap by default.

In the southern districts the chains are long and the prices high, which makes completion dates slip further and more often than they do on a straightforward flat sale.

Both produce the same shape: a certain date at one end and an uncertain one at the other. Holding the goods is the sane answer rather than an upsell.

This versus a self-storage unit

A unit is a room with a key, filled by you, open whenever the building is. It suits a business with stock in circulation or anyone needing regular access.

What we do is the other trade: the crew loads at your door, the goods stay as loaded, and access is arranged rather than casual. You save two handlings and a great deal of carrying; you give up walking in on a Sunday.

For a household between two addresses ours is nearly always right, and where a unit would genuinely suit you better we will say so.

What to keep with you

This is where people go wrong. If your things are going away for a stretch you need a proper living kit: clothes for this season and the next, work equipment, documents, chargers, medication, and whatever a child will ask for by the second day.

We go through that before loading and write it down. Retrieving one box from a held load is an arrangement, and doing it three times is an expensive way to find a coat.

Business stock and records

Stock, records and office furniture during a refit or a move between premises, on the same listed basis. For records the inventory matters more than the space does — knowing exactly what was taken and what came back is usually the entire point.

Questions about storage

  1. 01

How much space will I need?

More than you would guess. Rather than ask you to guess, we take the measurement at survey — and if that measurement turns out wrong, the arrangement changes rather than you paying for space you are not using.

  2. 02

How long can you hold things?

For as long as the gap runs. Everything about the arrangement, redelivery notice included, is written into the booking contract.

  3. 03

Can I get at my things?

With notice. Flag the things you expect to need at the point of loading and they go where we can get at them.

  4. 04

    Are stored goods covered?

Cover and its exclusions are stated in the booking contract. Declare anything unusually valuable at survey.

  5. 05

Can goods go from storage straight abroad?

Yes — the export file is built against the inventory already written at your property, which keeps the customs list accurate.
