About

A borough firm, district by district

We move households and businesses across Croydon, and the site is arranged around districts and building types because that is genuinely how the work divides here.

No awards we have not won, no membership badges we do not hold, and no invented totals for moves completed.

Why districts, and not just "Croydon"

Because Croydon is not one place. Within about six miles you can find a fifteenth-floor flat in a glass tower, a Victorian terrace with no kerb space, an interwar semi with a drive, and a house cut into a chalk slope with twenty steps up to the door. Those are four different working days.

A firm that quotes them all the same way will be wrong about at least two of them, usually in the customer's disfavour. So we ask which district you are in and what is between your front door and the road before we ask anything else.

The climb

The other thing outsiders miss is that the borough rises. Thornton Heath is effectively on the plain; Old Coulsdon is on the North Downs. Most people here know that as a cycling problem. For a loaded vehicle it changes the approach direction, the crew size and how long the carrying takes.

It also inverts the usual expectation. The districts with the hardest access are not the expensive ones — a Coulsdon house with a driveway is the easiest job in the borough, and a Thornton Heath terrace with nowhere to stop is one of the hardest.

Towers

Croydon has more tall buildings than most English towns, and a move out of one is a negotiation with a building before it is a job for a van. Lift booking, bay slot, named contact. Almost everything that goes wrong in the town centre is a permission rather than a piece of furniture, which is why we chase confirmations rather than accepting "should be fine".

How we quote

We survey, then we write a figure down. A phone call cannot see a fifteenth floor, a stepped approach or a garage, and a number given without those is a number that changes later. Changing it later is worse for you than not giving it.

You will find no prices on this site and no transit times on the European pages. Both would be guesses dressed as information. What you get is a written quote against a stated inventory.

What we will say plainly

That man and van is the wrong service for your house. That a wardrobe is not coming out of that lift and will have to be dismantled or left. That flat-pack already moved once may not survive a second dismantling. That your fridge is not worth the freight to the Algarve. And that a small job entirely inside Bromley or Sutton probably belongs with a Bromley or Sutton firm.

Saying those things loses us the occasional job. It loses us far less than the alternative.

Tell us the district and the floor

The two addresses, what is moving, and what sits between your front door and the road. We read it, ask what the form could not, and come back with a written quote.
